Theresia Komprath born Ludwig - translation of her death record

Theresia Ludwig was born in 1821 in Dittersdorf Austrian Silesia (Freudenthal), now Detrichovice Bruntal Czech republic. She died in 1904 in Kronstadt Siebenbuergen (Brasso), now Brasov Romania.

Her death certificate is very interesting because it gives details about Ludwig family:

Ludwig Lipot = Leopold könyvelő = accountant signed the death certificate. He was the son of Theresia's brother Leopold (1824-1888) with his first wife Hermine. Lipot was born in 1850. In 1904 he was living in Blumenau, Brunnengasse 24 (Kututcza), Fountain alley. In the Brasov address book his job was Beamter. Blumenau is a part of Brasov, mentioned as Brasso IV (4).

There is an error here. The mother's name was Rosa Leiter, born about 1788, married with Franz Ludwig on May 14, 1811 in Deutsch Liebau.

Ludwig family from Kronstadt - Brasov Siebenbuergen Romania

Ludwig family arrived in Kronstadt Brasov Romania between 1826-1848. They came from Dittersdorf am Kirchberg (Detrichovice, Bruntal), Austrian Silezia (catholic). They spent about 5 years in New Arad, Banat, Romania. It is possible that before arriving to Kronstadt they lived also in Hermannstadt (Sibiu), Romania. I found the Ludwig family in the Kronstadt address books from 1850 to 1916. They had a place in the Blumenau catholic cemetery closed in 1987. Henriette, the first wife of Leopold, died in 1861: Anna Agnes Neumann born in 1840 in Jihlava (Iglau), now Czech republic was the second wife of Leopold Ludwig born in 1824 in New Arad Banat Romania. They married in Kronstadt in 1861. Leopold's brother, Franz Ludwig, married in 1850 in Hermannstadt (Sibiu) Romania with Magdalena Hummel as second wife. Kreutzer - Kreuzer - Strumpfwirker

I start to study the Vienna address books since 1859. I found the Strumfwarenhandlerin KREUTZER Anna. My mother's second cousin, Horst Kreuzer, born in Kronstadt, Siebenbuergen, is a descendant of a Kreuzer coming from Vienna. He told me that the name was Kreutzer and then Kreuzer. Kreuzer from Vienna married Anna Ludwig from Kronstadt (Brasov), sister of my mother's grandmother, Victoria Ludwig. Leopold Ludwig (1824-1888) had a Strumfwaren Fabrik in Kronstadt. His daughters were Anna, Maria and Viktoria. Leopold was the last Strumfwirker, his father Franz was registered in the Strumpfwirker Guild book from Engelsberg, Austrian Silesia. Neu Arad, Banat

Map  - link ! Here stopped the family LUDWIG about 1825. Neu Arad was a colony of people coming from Alsace and Lorraine. This means LUDWIG could be from there. As they were in Austrian Silesia after the 30 years war the link with the Rhine valley could be from the period before this war. In Freudenthal and Jaegerndorf there were a lot of LUDWIG families. For me it was difficult to find the right LUDWIGS because of common given names like Franz and Johann (Hans). Having 3 Johanns at the same time, they were baptized "obern", "niedern"... In Romania's country side they use to give funny nicknames to identify the person. New Arad was a part of Banat, Habsburg domain, not Hungary. First settlers were catholic from West and orthodox from East (Ottoman Empire). Catholic church  - link !
